Student Athletes To Graduate

May 10…..More than thirty student-athletes will receive their diplomas’ on Saturday, May 10.  The ceremony is scheduled to be held on the historic quad in the middle of campus at 9:00 a.m. weather permitting.  Inclement weather would force the graduation ceremony into Cope Hall.  Nationally syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner will give the commencement address. 

Basketball player Jeremy Pittman (pictured), who only three weeks ago was named the 2008 Presidents Scholar Athlete, will graduate with the highest grade point average of any Cheyney University student athlete.  Female basketball player Ashley Blake was also a recipient of the Presidents Scholar Athlete Award at the Annual Student-Athletes Awards Banquet.

Wolves Finish Eighth at PSAC Championships

May 5……The Wolves edged out West Chester for eighth place at the PSAC Track and Field Championships this past weekend.  The championships were hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Several Wolves distinguished themselves on the track.

The 4 X 100 relay team of Ronald Hunter, Dominique Curry, Cyrus Wesley and James Vallery posted a 41.68 earning the Wolves second place.  The 4 X 400 relay squad of Derrick Davis, Negus Graham, Wesley and Vallery ran to a third place, NCAA provisional time of 3:13.70.

Hana Wilder Nets Scholarship

May 5.....The Philly Ad Club has awarded Cheyney University tennis player Hana Wilder a $ 5,000 scholarship and an internship at a communications firm in Philadelphia.  The Philly Ad Club had a record 26 finalists in this year’s competition. 

Wilder is will be a senior this fall.  A native of Philadelphia, Wilder is a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School.
