January 13....Cheyney (7-6:1-0) defeated Bloomsburg (6-7:0-1) 73-52 in the PSAC East opener for both schools. The Wolves missed their first seven shots from the field but still managed to take a 41-25 lead into the locker room at intermission.
Cheyney was led by Tamir Smith, Sharif Bray and Kevin Presbery. Smith recorded a double double scoring 17 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Bray led the players with 19 points and Presbery grabbed a team high 12 rebounds. Bruce Kennedy came off the bench to score a career high 10 points.
With the game tied at 9, Cheyney went on an 11-2 run to break things open. In the run three different players hit three pointers. Cheyney converted 9 of 22 from behind the arc during the contest. Cheyney stretched the lead to 16 after they went on a 7-3 run to close the half.
With the lead still at 11, 59-48, Cheyney went on a 14-4 run over the last five minutes of the game to put away their first conference victory.
