August 12…..Cheyney University Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Ellis Gindraw teamed up with former Wolves player Ed Braswell to capture the Philadelphia Red Bull 2 on 2 Revolutionary Tour Tournament.  The childhood friends played with grit and determination all weekend long to capture the title and prize money.  The duo both played guard for the Wolves and neither stand above six feet.  They consistently topped squads much big and stronger at South Philadelphia’s Chew Playground.

Gindraw credits new rules this year enabling him and Braswell to take the top honors.  Red Bull 2 on 2 Revelation plays with “Rondo Rules.”  Named for NBA player Rajon Rondo teams receive points for made baskets but also for dunks, steals, blocks, making the defensive players fall down.  Tournaments consist of 32 teams and its single elimination format.    There was a tremendous amount of talent young and old in the field.  Philadelphia legends Bo Kimble and Lewis “Black Magic” Lloyd represented city of brotherly love and upstarts Tayron Thomas (former D II Player of the Year) and local playground star Antoine “Do Dirty” Brown also battled for supremacy.

Gindraw and Braswell look to become the first repeat winners as they take their game on the road to Baltimore this weekend.  The tournament will be contested at Cloverdale Park.
