June 8…..Freshman Dwayne Hyman will participate in the 400 meters at the US Track and Field Junior Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa. The four days of competition is slated for June 23-27 at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University.
Hyman was the top freshman in the 400 meters at the PSAC Championships. His time of 48.73 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships was the 12th fastest of any PSAC student-athlete. He is the first Cheyney student-athlete to participate in the Junior Nationals in at least the past decade.
“This is a great opportunity for Dwayne,” commented rookie head coach James Williams. “I know he will do Cheyney University proud. We are very proud of him and look forward to more things to come from Dwayne Hyman.”
During the outdoor season, Hyman also posted an impressive 22.11 in the 200 meters at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational. Hyman is also coming off a sensational indoor season that saw the freshman post a 22.62 in the 200 m at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York. It was the ninth best time posted by any PSAC athlete during the indoor season. At the Indoor CTC, Hyman posted a 50.12 in the 400 m. the tenth fastest time of the season and top mark of any freshman in the PSAC.

In addition to serving as home of the Drake Relays, with more than 100 years of rich tradition, Greater Des Moines and Drake University, have hosted the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. |
