Cheyney University Director of Athletics China Jude announced that Sue Kilian will take over as the head coach of the Lady Wolves volleyball team.  Coach Kilian comes to Cheyney after four seasons as the head coach of Holy Family University.  During her tenure as the Tigers head coach she compiled a 67-79 mark including three straight appearances in the CACC (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) post season tournament and earned Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2007.   Her 23 wins in 2008 stands as a program record.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity,” stated Kilian.  “Cheyney could have a very good program.  They have upgraded the facilities and started to give the program more resources.”  Kilian went on to say that…..” the PSAC has some very good volleyball teams.  I know most of the coaches.  With a couple of good recruiting classes I think we can be competitive.”

Kilian produced the Tigers only All-East players.  Maria Scherrer (2007) and Katie Hornback (2008 & 2009) were bestowed All-East Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.  Jordan Beland (2009) was recognized as the Tigers first Daktronics All-East Region team selection.

Prior to her arrival at Holy Family, Kilian was the head coach for the boys and girls teams at Council Rock South High School for two seasons.  She led the girls to the Continental Conference title two straight years, and earned an eighth place finish in the PIAA Class AAA in 2005.  Before arriving at Council Rock she guided North Penn HS (1998-2002) making three trips to the PIAA District 1 Championships and won the Suburban One Tournament in 2001.  Kilian was also the head coach at Mount Saint Joseph Academy from 1990—95.  From 1996-98, Kilian was the first coach at Philadelphia Textile (Philadelphia University).

Kilian, a 1992 graduate of Allentown College (DeSales) holds a Level 2 CAP certification from USA Volleyball and is a certified PIAA Volleyball Official.

She resides in Warminster with her husband and daughter.
