The Lady Wolves are back in action on Friday and Saturday with trips to Shippensburg and Kutztown.

The PSAC individual tennis championships, which were scheduled to take place this weekend at Bloomsburg, have been postponed until the spring due to the flood waters that have inundated the town of Bloomsburg recently. The individual tennis championships, which were scheduled to be the first PSAC championship of 2011-12, will now be held on April 28-29 of 2012 at Bloomsburg and will be one of the final PSAC championships to be contested this year.

Cheyney fell 9-0 to Chestnut Hill College in their final non-league tennis match of the season.
The Wolves are scheduled to take on Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg over the weekend before ending the season at West Chester on the 12th.

Cheyney fell to the College of Notre Dame 9-0 to finish the season at 1-9. “This was a tremendous experience for our team,” commented Coach Dan Whyte. “Next year we will play a full PSAC slate of games. The young ladies learned a lot and gained valuable experience.”

Amidst the blustery conditions this past Monday, the Cheyney Women’s Tennis Team dropped a 6-0 decision to the Golden Rams of West Chester. Cheyney got a taste of what Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action will be like next season when the Wolves are scheduled to play a full conference slate. Cheyney will get another taste of PSAC play this weekend when they travel up to East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Before the Lady Wolves make the trek to the Pocono Mountains, Cheyney will play back-to-back matches against Lincoln on Thursday and Friday. The match on Friday is scheduled for the Cheyney courts beginning at 2:00 p.m.

In a rematch, from two weeks ago, Coach Dan Whyte’s squad fell 7-2 to Wilson College. Earlier in the season, Cheyney defeated Wilson 6-3. Tiffany Stanley, playing number four singles, won her match 6-2, 8-6. Rebecca Laviscount won 6-2,6-0 while playing sixth singles.
Cheyney stands at 1-3 with a hectic week in front of them. Because of the inclement weather over the past couple of weeks the team is now scheduled to play five matches in six days. The only home match is slated for 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 20 against Lincoln. Cheyney will travel to West Chester (4/17), Lincoln (4/19), East Stroudsburg (4/21) and College of Notre Dame (4/22).

For the second time in seven days the Lady Wolves fell to Division I LaSalle 9-0 in women's tennis. The Lady Wolves fell to the Explorers a week ago in Philadelphia. Cheyney now stands at 1-2 with both losses coming against Division I opponents. The Wolves lone victory was against Wilson College. Cheyney will be back in action Thursday afternoon at Lincoln.

Coach Dan Whyte and his squad was elated Tuesday night as the Lady Wolves drove home from Chambersburg, PA after defeating Wilson College 6-3 in women’s tennis to earn the programs first victory. The Lady Wolves took two out of three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to secure the match.
“I very proud of what we have achieved,” commented Whyte, who earned his first collegiate coaching victory. “Our young ladies are learning a lot and developing their games.

The women’s tennis team opened the 2007 campaign in Philadelphia against the Explorers of LaSalle. Cheyney came out on the short end of a 9-0 decision. The Wolves started the weekend getting rained out against fellow HBCU Lincoln University. A make-up date has not been set.
The squad returns to action Tuesday at Wilson College.
